props supervisor & artisan

Hi

Originally from a small town outside of Baltimore, MD I've been in the theater business for as long as I can remember.

As an artist & artisan, my passions are to create and cultivate storytelling on stage, on screen, and beyond.

If you're reading this, congratulations! You've found my website, a place where you can see snapshots of my small storytelling contributions in action... brought to life in paint, plastic, and just about everything else.

Originally from a small town outside Baltimore, Maryland, I received my BFA in Stage Properties from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in May 2019 (Go Fighting Pickles!)

I have been fortunate to craft a career that’s taken me across the country, into the shops and on to the stages of companies like Cirque Du Soleil, The Public Theater, and Williamstown Theater Festival; I’ve propped my way from from Maui to Milwaukee, all the way to my current home in Manhattan. My most recent (and colorful) role was as the Props & Deck Supervisor at Blue Man Group in New York City, where I oversaw the largest production department of the Off-Broadway legacy, from the show’s 2021 relaunch to its February 2025 closure, after 33 years at the Astor Place Theatre.

A props artisan, supervisor, and educator, my strengths range from faux finishes to fake food, and from paper props to paperwork… Whether roughing out rehearsal props or repairing the unthinkable minutes before curtain, I thrive on the fast-paced, the unpredictable, and the sometimes chaotic world of live entertainment I've spent nearly my entire life in.

My passion is to create and cultivate storytelling on stage, on screen, and beyond. No matter the medium, I pride myself on artistry, attention-to-detail, and a true love for what I do.

Keep up with me & my projects on Instagram, @carlyanderscreations!
